VIRTUAL REALITY

Hello guys! I want to talk about virtual reality (VR).  If you want to know the difference between AR and VR here is an explanation:

Augmented reality is defined as "an enhanced version of reality created by the use of technology to add digital information on an image of something."AR is used in apps for smartphones and tablets. AR apps use your phone's camera to show you a view of the real world in front of you, then put a layer of information, including text and/or images, on top of that view.
Virtual Reality is defined as "the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment." When you view VR, you are viewing a completely different reality than the one in front of you. Virtual reality may be artificial, such as an animated scene, or an actual place that has been photographed and included in a virtual reality app. With virtual reality, you can move around and look in every direction -- up, down, sideways and behind you, as if you were physically there. As it allows students to share their world with others by creating their own VR content and Promote curiosity and wonder, it is a really important tool and I recommend you to use it in your classroom.

AUGMENTED REALITY

Hello everybody! Today, I will talk about augmented reality (AR). The origin of the word augmented is augment, which means to add or enhance something. In the case of Augmented Reality (also called AR), graphics, sounds, and touch feedback are added into our natural world to create an enhanced user experience. (source)
It is so creative, useful and enjoyable for students to learn through AR. We can make students more enthusiastic about lessons and keep their interest in the work given easily thanks to AR.
There are some apps that are based on AR:
  • HP Reveal
  • Augment 3D AR
  • UniteAR
  • layAR
  • BLIPPAR

If you want to know how to use HP Reveal, you can check that video.

QR CODES

Hi everybody! I want to introduce you QR codes. QR stands for "Quick Response" and I am sure most of the people are familiar with QR codes. You can scan these codes with your technological devices and It will direct you to a certain website, application and so on. You can even integrate them into your lessons. If you ask how, you can convert your materials (videos, websites) into QR codes and use them in your classes. Either hanging them on the walls as homework or using during the lesson time. Students will have fun while scanning these codes and they will be more eager to do their homework.

Here is the QR code I created. First, you need to download the application QR Code Generator, and then scan it with your phone or tablet. If you do that, you will reach to a video which is  "Five Different Ways to Say I'm Fine". Hope you like it! :)

KAHOOT

Hey! I'm here with one of my favorite applications! You can create quizzes for your students both using computer and mobile phone. It is really fun and easy to do. You can add images and videos besides your questions. Also, you can arrange the time that students will have to answer for each question. It is suitable for all learners and there is a ranking scale after finishing the quiz. So, students will try to win the game by giving fast and correct answers. I highly recommend you to use this tool in your classes! :)

You can check my kahoot from HERE which is about occupations.

SECOND LIFE

Hello again!! This time I want to talk about Second Life that is an online virtual world. Second Life users, also called residents, create virtual representations of themselves, called avatars and are able to interact with places, objects and other avatars. They can explore the world (known as the grid), meet other residents, socialize, participate in both individual and group activities, build, create, shop, and trade virtual property and services with one another. It can be used in education, too and it is a really beneficial tool. Students can join the virtual classroom and can participate the discussion without hesitating. It is pretty fun to learn by Second Life.

Istanbul University also created a place in Second Life called Erasmus City by which erasmus students can get the information they need online. Here is my avatar in front of the erasmus office. It is really useful
